Athletes Xcel is excited to announce our newest service, cycling coaching for track cyclists and road cycling sprinters, for the first time in our company's history. This cycling initiative is being led by co-founder and coach Stephen McMullan (also known as Coach McMullan). We are beyond excited to use cycling to grow our community. This service is intended for cyclists who compete in road criteriums, track races, and/or other road events and are looking to outpace their rivals in order to triumph at the finish line.
We've all been in that situation during a cycling race: you've stayed with a rider, breakaway, or pack until the very last sprint, you try to accelerate and attack, and then you quickly realise your legs lack the power and speed to win when it counts. At the iconic road race, Paris-Roubaix, in the northern part of France, where the road meets the track, we see this scenario year after year. exemplifying the value of improving your speed and the necessity of being able to sprint after a long and difficult race.
Cycling enthusiasts in our community continue to suffer because of widespread traditional cycling training myths, despite significant advances in theory and research. You only need to attend a club race night to hear the classics: "a track cycling sprinter does not need endurance road rides," "base training always needs to be long, slow distance," and, our personal favourite, "cycling training is only effective when it is intense."
The significance of training consistently and balancing the various forms of physical stress in your cycling training—intensity, volume, and training frequency—is something that is frequently overlooked. Maintaining this equilibrium is essential for maintaining performance gains while remaining completely healthy and injury-free. You need a cycling training programme that fosters the following traits if you're a competitive cyclist who is serious about enhancing your speed, power output, and having the drive to compete and win the race:
Depending on your cycling needs, we offer a few different tiers of online coaching programs. All programmes include app access, regular communication, and at least one call touch point every four weeks. For a free consultation to learn how we can assist, apply today! We anticipate hearing from you
